Learning lessons from ecosystem-based adaptation projects in Guatemala

TMG and Guatemalan partners share experiences for strengthening governance conditions for EbA

On the 18th March TMG, WWF Mesoamérica and ADIMI came together, with the support of the International Climate Initiative of the German Federal Environment Ministry, to discuss 'Lecciones aprendidas Adaptación basada en Ecosistemas (AbE) en Guatemala.' The event, whose title translates as 'lessons learned from ecosystem-based adapatation (EbA) in Guatemala,' was organised to reflect on the progress of recent EbA projects in Guatemala, and to share knowledge on how conditions of governance can be strengthened to support further progress.
Reflecting on the event, TMG's Marai El Fassi remarked that 'collaborative research and knowledege development have a crucial role to play in any transformative process. Jointly developing knowledge with our partner organizations and community members at watershed has given us meaningful insights into what EbA can mean for Guatemala, and provided sound evidence for decision makers at different levels. The challenge now is to feed these lessons into political decisions.' The event (in Spanish) can be watched on ADIMI's YouTube channel via the link below, and a short report can be read here.
